Many people are excited by the prospect of having a swimming pool in their backyard. After all, who wouldn't want that! If you are considering this decision, there are several important factors to think about first.

1 /  All decision-making parties should be in agreement.
This is crucial! We often receive requests for in-home consultations, and during our meetings, it becomes apparent that not all parties are aligned. This can make for a challenging first meeting! Frequently, we are asked to "convince" the opposing party about their desire for a pool. While we offer many services, convincing a reluctant spouse is not something we can do.

2 / What is most important to you about owning a pool?
For some, physical fitness may be a top priority, with the desire to swim laps regularly. Others might prioritize the soothing sound of water, making features like fountains or waterfalls essential. The key is to take the time to create a list of priorities that reflect what matters most to you and your family.

3 / What is most important to you when choosing a pool builder?
Is price your top consideration, or do you prioritize quality and craftsmanship? Would you prefer to be heavily involved in the building process, or are you mainly interested in knowing when you can start swimming? Additionally, how important is it to you to have the ongoing support of a full-service pool builder after the project is completed? Are you comfortable working with a company that outsources most of the work and may not be available for future assistance? These important questions should be carefully considered before inviting a pool builder representative to your home. At Browning, we are a fourth-generation, full-service pool company dedicated to providing the best value for your investment in your backyard. Quality has been our top priority for over 83 years!

4 / Establish a realistic budget and identify available resources.
Before requesting quotes for a swimming pool, it's important to research and secure financing. Although it may seem counterintuitive, waiting until the design is completed and the agreement is signed – only to discover that financing is unavailable – can be extremely disappointing for everyone involved.

5 / Familiarize yourself with the three types of swimming pools: vinyl liner, concrete, and fiberglass.
This knowledge will help you determine which option is the best fit for you, your family, and your budget. At Browning Pools & Spas, we offer all three construction methods, so we are impartial to any specific type. Check out our article below ↓

By carefully reflecting on these five key points, you will develop a deeper insight into your personal preferences and specific needs. This understanding will empower you to navigate the buying process with greater assurance and clarity.
